Confessions....

I never pay attention to calendars and clocks.....unless when I need to beat a deadline (most common of which is paying due bills in time before the service gets cuts off) . That's why I completely forgot that last December 23 would have been the 10th month since I sold my business. Not that I was keeping tabs and has no plans of celebrating the day I said goodbye to a failed venture that was driving my stress levels to a point that I was always feeling sick and lethargic. Nope...I WILL NOT AND WILL NEVER COMMEMORATE THAT DAY!!!

But let me confess something, that last day, before I lock the door to my shop for the last time, I actually stood still for a second and said GOODBYE TO IT. I don't know why I did it. I just did it.

Ten months after I did what I did I still am not sure what to do next. I am eyeing a new venture. But after my last misadventure with business, am now afraid to jump and get wet again. *sighs*

New Post!!! New Plans!!!

I let go of my internet cafe last February 23 and since then I've been a PMA (pahinga muna anak) LOL!!!

It's not that I don't want to work....actually I want to work...I just don't want to go to work for somebody else. Both my sisters has asked me pointedly what I want to do and since both of them has stable well paying jobs I understand their point of view. If your a well paid employee, its hard to imagine risking the regular income (plus health care and bonuses) for a business that you are not even sure will pay for itself. Well I've been running my own business for 8 years and at some point I myself questioned the sanity of staying in business.

But instead of making a decision on getting into another business or applying for a job, I instead went into total vacation mode....well actually I still dabbled in business here and there when I get bored (or scared that I might end up a BUM for life!). I told one of the sister I needed the time off, after spending the last 8 years working 12 hours a day 7 days a week. I think it paid off, NONE OF MY CLOTHES NO LONGER FITS ME!!! HA!HA!HA!

But since the end of the year is almost here, I think its time for me to start planning for my next venture and adventure!!! I have pinpointed the market, is doing all necessary research, making the necessary number crunching...now all I need is to slowly but surely rewire my body clock, because all the necessary work for the biz SHOULD be done in the morning and not at NIGHT... SIGH!!! I still have lots of prepping to do!!!

(what is it I am planning???? hmmm !!!!)

Veggie Garden 101

My sister owns a small plot of land a few houses away from where we live. Last year after the parents came back from their 6 months vacation with that sister (she lives in New Jersey with her husband and 3 kids) they decided to turn that empty plot of land into a mini vegetable garden. It was a 50% disaster. Meaning only half of what they planted grew into something edible. The other half was OK . Edible but not as pretty as we pictured them to be. My father thinks its the soil, my mother thinks its the insect. I think.....I think we did something wrong...OR we did not do something right :-(

Anyway a year after that disastrous start, I decided I want to give our little veggie garden another try. But since I would be doing it alone this time, I will stick with something doable for me and that is container gardening.

Well, actually my other reason for going container, instead of sticking little seeds and plants on the ground is because the weeds are driving me crazy. I would probably spend a month just clearing them up and I would have nothing to show for my effort so to avoid that I'll go the container way. Saves up on effort and energy, both of which I am too lazy to spend on weeding anyway!

Food Trip!!!

Food Trip!!!

Nina's Fried Itik
San Jose, Plaridel, Bulacan

Fried Itik, Inihaw na Tilapia, Inihaw na Pusit, Inihaw na Liempo and Kinilaw na Tanigue. OK, Uncle went on an Inihaw overdrive!!! Meron ng lahat ng ito sa California pero sabi nya di kasing sarap ng luto dito sa atin!

After lunch scene...did I say that just get to Nina's we have to drive for at least 20 minutes from Plaridel proper? Yep it's out of the way with no public transpo available except if you pay Manong Tricycle extra for the special trip. But for the itik alone....it's so worth the trip.

Ka Resty's Special Bibingka
Baliuag, Bulacan, infront of Baliuag Church

Ka Resty's Special Bibingka and Free Tsaa (tea made of Pandan and Avocado Leaves) Yummy!!!
Ka Resty's is located in front of Baliuag Church. They have a stall in the Plaza fronting the church. They cook their bibingka and Tsaa the traditional way. I LOVE their tea....a nice ending to a really filling and satisfying meal!

(We went to baliuag church right after we hit Nina's for lunch so just imagine how full we are. That tea was a real saving grace and the Manong who served our orders was quite generous to give us extra tea to go with our take out order)

Food Cart (Name I did not bother to remember!)
MRT Station

Tito Mike has been craving for tukneneng since the day he arrived, so despite fair warning from his wife not eat anything that is bad for his cholesterol (and waistline!) he gave in to temptation as soon as he saw a foodcart selling some tukneneng (quail eggs in batter) the cart was located on an MRT station and looks clean enough for me that I did not stop him when he said he wants some. Here is waiting for his order.

Because he is my favorite Uncle and care for his health I split everything with him (except for the bill..hehehe!) the eggs looks nice...but the taste? let's just say it's not that good, the tuknenengs sold by the Manong on the street taste much better!

R. MAMON LUK
beside Quiapo Church

LOL!!! no explanation needed here!

Cafe Rocka
Rocka Complex, Plaridel Bulacan

Place is cozy, coffee is OK and the Pizza is GOOD!!!

Church Hopping!!!

A couple of weeks ago, I played tourist guide to an uncle who came visiting from California. Since he only has time to do day trips, we ended up improvising by doing some DIY day trips. We visited churches, sampled local foods, visited churches, visited local museums and did I say we visited Churches....yep ...8 Churches in 2 weeks with bit of food tripping mixed in.

So here goes.....
Baliuag Church
Baliuag, Bulacan

Saint James Church
PLaridel, Bulacan

Baraosaoin Church
Malolos, Bulacan

Quiapo Church
Quiapo, Manila

Manaoag Church
Manaoag, Pangasinan

I was not able to get pictures of St. Jude and Baclaran Church.

Next .....food trip galore and some museum stops.....

Lost!!!!

It's been a while since I came here to post and while I was trying to log in, I was taken to a rather familiar blog, an old blog that hasn't been updated for over a year. Yep...it's mine alright!!!

This reminded me to come here more often and update more often too....lest I forget about this blog like my other blogs that I rediscovered because I forgot the user id and password I used for this blog...kekeke!

Sunny day!!!!

After a few days of gloom the sun shone again yesterday on my side of the planet. I usually don't like sunny days because of the heat but yesterday and today I welcomed the sun with wide open arms which incidentally is full of freshly laundered clothes and bedsheets (the giant pile of laundry is thanks to Ondoy!) . Nope, I was not one of the many casualties of Ondoy but one of my father's old aunt was. She lives alone in Valenzuela and the water reached the second floor of her house. Almost everything in the house got wet, including their chandelier and a giant painting which has hung on their wall even before I was born. I have lost count of how many bedsheets I have laundered (thank God for automatic washing machines and the help of manang labandera!) all I know is that I have been at it since tuesday of last week! Progress was real slow at the beginning because water was cut off in our place two days in a row due to tank maintenance and cleaning. Add to that the continuos rainy weather which makes it hard to dry clothes. That's why I really welcomed the sunny weather this past two days. It means I finally I can dry my laundry faster. Hopefully I will finally be done with everything tomorrow. Let's just wish the sun continues shining!!!

The wrath of Ondoy

Spent the last 2 days helping a grand Aunt from my father's side clean her now inhabitable house. She was born and raised in that house. Now in her middle 60's, she finds herself without a place to call home for the first time in her life. She will be staying with me for the meantime, as she sorts out her life or until her siblings finds a suitable place for her to stay. They would probably buy another house, something smaller, easier to maintain and definitely in an area that is flood free during the typhoon season.

Another set of relatives, this time from my mother's side, also suffered the same fate. But unlike the Aunt I mentioned earlier, they don't have financially capable siblings to help them start over. Right now they are still trapped in Marikina and we don't know when we will get a chance to pay them a visit. The last we heard from her, vehicles are still not allowed in their area due to the flooding and they are taking out dead bodies first. Which makes me wonder, isn't it more important to get help to those that are still alive? After all, dead people won't know the difference right?!

There are many other stories I want to tell....sadly they all share a common denominator... a storm call ONDOY.

Messy room...messy mind...organized room...organized mind...

I finally got around to cleaning my sister's room which has become the de facto storage room in our house (she moved out after getting married).

Before pics.

And after throwing away this much plastic bags and what nots... (there's actually 2 BIG bag full of plastic bags that I threw out... I cringe at the thought of all those plastic bags)

and a bit of reorganizing (I was very ruthless and threw away everything that can no longer be used. Other stuff I segregate into two plastic boxes, 1 box to be sold in my ebay store and 1 box for stuff that could be given away. I call the latter the family gift box....you know for those surprise invitations you just can't refuse but have no budget to spare for gifts)

Finally.........

The room still needs a bit of organizing. Unfortunately I am not the most organized person to do that. Its clean (that's more important!), the wooden sofa which doubles as bed for my sister and her husband when they come to visit is finally usable again and you could actually walk around the small room for a change :D

Bored Lakwatsera!!!

A week or two ago, I went to Trinoma. I was suppose to meet my sister in Farmers, Cubao but I manage to arrive in Manila a few hours early (I am based in Bulacan) so I decided to eat a very late lunch at Red Ribbons, Trinoma.

This is me while waiting for my order!

It took a while before my order arrived (more than 20 minutes for a simple Pasta with White sauce??...slow or I was just really hungry?) so I took some more pics...

Finally my very...very..very late lunch arrived!!!

Serving size is reasonable. The pasta was really tasty. I find the cake a bit too sweet for my taste but I still like it anyway. Coffee was OK but is not strong enough for me (I like my coffee really strong) . I think this meal cost me around Php 150.00, value for money if you ask me, I walked away really full.

I finish everything in less than 10 minutes. Lol...I was that hungry!!!

After that more pics.

The above pics were taken on a Tuesday afternoon....and to think that we are a Third World Country!

Speaking of coffee....I think I am gonna go now and grab myself a cup!!!

My Ebay store

While I was browsing the items I post in my ebay store, I noticed that I've been a member isnce 2003..........I didn't know I've been registered that long!!! Time really fly so fast (and it didn't help that I was really inactive there and barely visited the site since I can't buy anything anyway because I don't have a credit card and I don't know how to fund my paypal back then (thank goodness for that!!!)

Anyway last week I decided that its about time I actually pursue other venues for selling my stuffs besides the usual forums, sulit and Multiply. It was while I was registering with Ebay that I found out I was already a member........albeit a very inactive member that is. Although it took me a while to reactivate my account because I can't remember my password, I finally succeeded in ressurecting my ebay account after a week of banging my head and countless attempts at using all the usual passwords that I have been using all this years.

Unlike other forums, it actually takes a while to post your items ( I cheat and use a template that I copy and paste...hehehe...saves me precious minutes) and yes you have to take sometime to read their rules and regulations :D.

After a week of posting I have a total of 10 items posted....slow I know, but hey I was reading, learning, taking pics and researching similar products while I posted them in my ebay sell area (ok so I was playing farmtown and mafia wars on the side too!!!)

You can check my items here.

As a buyer, what do you usually buy in Ebay? and what are you looking for in a seller?

I will really appreciate it if you leave a reply here. Any comments on my items (specially how I present them) is specially appreciated.

I am a WHSL (part 2)

I used to own a small internet cafe before I realized that what I was earning was not even enough to cover the bills (and the cost of my future hospitalization caused by well, being an internet cafe owner...yeah it was that bad!) To say that I was not happy with my situation is an understatement. I was desperate for a way out. So I got out as soon as I saw a minuscule chance of escape! I sold the shop at a not so attractive price. Honestly I just want out of it, I don't care if I lost money, because frankly the longer I continue with it, the more I would lose.

That's how I ended up being a WHSL. People who don't know what I do think that I am just lazing around the house the whole day being a good for nothing BUM. Actually they are right and they are so wrong too!. I do spend 90% of my time at home, but I don't laze around doing nothing (although I must admit that once in a while I give in to the urge of jumping in bed in the middle of the day to NAP...ahhhh siesta!!!)

But what exactly do I to warrant spending 8-12 hours infront of the computer? The ff. are the list of websites that I frequent on a daily basis:

1. sulit. com
2. entrepreneur.com.ph- I need to go daily and bump my ads or they would be lost underneath other peoples ads.
3. pinoyexchange- the same with entrepreneur.com.ph
4. shinphil forums - for my kpop addictionn (this is a shinhwa forum)
5. various kpop forums and blogs - same as above
6. facebook - just because I am addicted to farmtown and mafia war
7. multiply- to spam my ads on peoples guest book....hehehe
8. twitter - just because
9. I visit this blog and other people's blog. Sometimes I write a post when I feel like it.
10. Check emails (lifeline to the world of every online entrepreneur)

I also manage 3 self made websites for my various businesses

  • www.beautycrafters.net (I co-own this with my sister. We sell mineral make up and organic bath and products. We also promote this in multiply)
  • http://wholesalehaven.webs.com/- this site is for my wholesale business. As of now we only sell imported underwear but we have plans of adding other stuff in the future.
  • http://beautycrafters.multiply.com/ - this we created to promote our products and website. I am still trying to make heads and tails of how to effectively utilize this site for our business.
I must admit that I am not a very organized person and sometimes I succumb to the temptation of spending the wholeday playing games in facebook. But people who think running an online business is easy are fooling themselves, it's not easy. The only benefit you will get from using this medium to kick start your business is its relatively cheap as compared to starting a physical store. Sometimes I find myself wondering what the heck am I doing or if I am even doing the right thing.....but after experiencing whats its like to own my own business, there is no turning back....this chick is gonna be a WHSL whether you like it or not!!!

I am a WHSL

If your wondering what WHSL it stands for Work at Home Single Lady...where did it came from...it came from my hungry tummy and a brain that keeps reminding me that I am on a diet! Well if moms have their WHAMS why can't single people like me who has decided to stay at home by running a home based business be referred to as WHSL :D

I used to own an internet cafe, until I realized that it is draining the life out of me. So early this year I decided to sell the business, much to the disappointment of a few family members. I know they are silently worried about my future..especially my financial stability. I did not come from a rich family so their concern is justifiable.

Very few people can actually grasp what I am doing. To them I am just lazing around the house being a bum while spending the whole day in front of the computer doing God knows what. I myself sometimes wonder what I am doing. The online store which should have been launched properly a few months ago, is still that....an online store that is yet to be launched. To be fair me and my sister who is also my business partner joined a couple of bazaars last Christmas. Sales was pretty good, but once Christmas was over and after 2 failed bazaars we both realized that we may need to slow down a little bit if we don't want to lose whatever little capital we have. So for now our bazaar business is in hibernation mode.

So what exactly am I doing now besides blog hopping and playing games in facebook? Well I've been busy trying to figure out how to become a WHSL. Yes, I want to become a full time Work at Home Single Lady.....nobody ever said you can't be a Mogul while you are in your pajamas right???

next post: I'll tell you exactly what I do!!!

Christmas Bazaars!!!

Me and my sister are planning to join Bazaars this coming Christmas season. Last year we managed to get a slot at Tiendesitas for their weekend Bazaar. We only manage 2 weekends because we planned and made preparations a bit too late. Anyway this year we plan to join bazaars as early as November.

Anybody knows the contact numbers of Bazaar organizers?

And by the way, anybody has any experience joining the Valle Verde Christmas Bazaar, whats the feedback?

What did I do today!

* Spent the day bloghopping and following other peoples blog.

* Did the laundry

* Miss the garbage truck this morning so I need to wait another week before my trash is disposed of properly. Good thing I segregate and the only content of my trash bag that needs to be collected are non biodegradable products, mostly paper and plastic scraps.

* Chatted with a friend

* Paid a visit to my facebook to play farmtown..yaay!!

It's only 2:21 pm from where I am, so still have time to surf, work and post on my blog!

Finally a Sunny day!

After one week of gloomy days and non stop rain...finally sunshine!!!

My Missing Funny bone and a comment on Willie R.

I can't seem to find my funny bones this past few days. No I am not sad or anything like that, but its been a while since i've done anything crazy. Is it because there is nobody around to share the funny moment or is because the weather this past few days makes one go int"senti mode"? or maybe because Me, Myself and I has been locked inside the basement of my crazy mind for so long that they have mellowed down their eccentricities without me noticing it. Anyway with nothing funny to write about, I might as well comment go with the flow and write something about Willie Revillame and his not so funny comment on air about Tita Cory's cortege....

....am so glad I was never a fan of his show. But I do pity the people who works with him and for him. He doesn't know when to stop, and in his attempt to be funny he spares nobody. Ok so I am a lifelong fan of eat bulaga, so I maybe bias here. But I can't remember Tito, Vic or even the smartaleck Joey de Leon belittling the staff of their show. Sure they will sometime call attention to some of their staff, but its harmless teasing, and sometimes the object of this teasing ends up becoming celebrity themselves. But the few times I had the misfortune of watching Wowowee, I always ends up irritated with Willie R., Mr. Revillame may I suggest taking a cupfull of humility taken 3 x a day for the rest of your life. This people who you belittle and insult on a dailybasis does not owe you anything. They work for ABS-CBN not you, sure your salary is a LOT bigger than theirs, but this people are the same people that makes you look good on your show, without their talent and hard work, there will be no Wowowee. Not all people can do their job but Mr. Revillame there lots of other Talents inside ABS who could probably do a better job at hosting a variety show than you.

About that coretege incident, you could have saved yourself all this trouble if only you kept your mouth shut and saved the outburts for later after the cameras stop rolling. That is what a professional host would have done.

Another Comment on My Header

I think it will be a while before I get used to my header. I don't know why, every time I look at her I feel like running to the fridge to grab myself something to eat!!! LOL

About my evil alter egos, I know some of you would find it weird that there exist 3 other persons in my head. Don't worry, I feel the same!

But don't run away yet, I assure you that they are completely harmless. Well, I do make sure that they are always well fed so that they won't bite :D

A comment on my header

I posted my first blog (knowing the trio, it's probably the only post I would get to write here) and after I viewed the blog, I suddenly realized how drop dead gorgeous the girl in the header is, and her skirt is very short! (Note the emphasis on the last word)

Me: Yeah, so gorgeous...just like me!
Myself: Hey her long gams look like mine!
I: Where is her nose?
Missy: I think I will edit the layout of this blog again some other time:

An Introduction of my Evil Alter egos: Me, Myself and I

Err...this is actually a disclaimer: I have absolutely no control over this 3. So please don't sue me for all the things they will write here!

Missy

Me: And you really have to call us evil
Missy: Would you rather I call you three my 3 ugly alter ego.
Me: Off course NO!
Myself: We are not evil!
I: Just brutally honest~
Missy: I rest my case
